I don't know if it's just teenage love, but I could see myself with him forever. Anyways, back to my question; I already know that I'm going to make him some chocolate covered strawberries and I will buy him his favorite cologne.  Handmake your card - get crafty. Maybe a framed picture of the two of you. You could give him the modern version of a mixtape/CD - a.k.a. go find a cool flash drive (like this: http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/usb-gadgets/e6b0/) and fill it up with music that you think he'll like, or that reminds you of him.
You could draw him a comic book - even if the best you can do are stick figures.
Or you could get him a Nerf gun. No, it's not terribly romantic, but I don't know one guy in this universe who would not love to get a Nerf gun, no matter the occasion. Only get one for him if you get one for yourself, and then you can say "competition on..." and let the battle begin.

Do you guys have an inside joke? You could do something with that :) or do something cheesy that a guy would do. That might get a laugh. Maybe a scavenger hunt, or make him pop hundreds of balloons till he finds a valentines card in one with something personal to you guys that is either funny or cute.
