Strange question from a friend I'd just met...

When I do the school drop off there has been a man being quite pleasant and polite and occasionally saying hello to me. I have also noticed that whenever I have walked to the supermarket over the drop off if he sees me he will keep looking behind to look at me.

I asked a mum about him as he is married and she said the wife is quite normal but he is very outgoing and will talk to anyone.

Last night my hubby and I were in the pub having a weekend off from our children and this couple walked in. Apparently he looked around the bar area to I assume to see if he knew anyone.

They ended up sitting on the next table to us and sat chatting. Then I started stroking a dog that came up to us and that started a conversation off. We were all talking over loud music and eventually he asked if they could come and join us and I said that was fine. We had a great evening chatting and we mentioned that we were parish councillors. He then turned round and said you are busy aren't you 'do you ever get time to make love' and I was thinking 'what!' but I just replied no jokingly. His wife did not tell him off, my hubby just sat there quietly but I thought for someone who hardly knew us even though he was a little bit drunk I found that a bit personal.

We carried on talking after that but it just made me wonder why he would say such a thing as even though I am not a prude I would tell my husband off if said something like that.

A reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2009):

Well as you stated he was a bit drunk and I will assume a few things following about him:

He finds you "nice to look at" and most likely had a few sexual thoughts running through his mind about you.. YES regaurdless of the wife.. men do that.

He quickly ran through a few things that he finds to be fun and done in spare time, and sex was high on that list of activities

He thought of his comment as more of a joke and thought he has opened to door to such joking ebough by his previous chatting and recognition of you and current socializing.

So combine the thigns above and it makes for an odd, somewhat or very (variable by individual) comment.
