But I think after you do do it, after it the feeling of whether to tell him or not will be mutual. I hope everything goes good for you! But then comes a time when you are comfortable with someone and you can confess about some things you were dishonest about. In this case, it’s not a huge lie. In fact he might be pleasantly surprised by your confession and certainly not hate you.
