Dont ask her out till you find out if she has a boyfriend or not. You could just casually drop it into the conversation, ie: "so, do you have a boyfriend?" at least then you will know whether to make a move or not.

No don't ask her directly, when you talk to her then maybe bring up the question what are you up to at the weekend?" And she tells you her plans and mentions no boyfriend then say subtly, "So are you seeing anyone special at the moment?" she will give you her answer. if not carry on get her number! If you dont talk to her or maybe you are to nervous to ask her face to face then you should get her number and send her a text. But when you ask her just ask out of interest in her life. Good luck!
