Should I give him a chance and see where it goes?

A female Australia age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I need some advice before i let myself get involved with this guy. I met him a while ago but when i told him i liked him he said he was already seeing someone but that it isn't anything serious he has only seen her a few times. And then said now he knows i liked him that out of respect for me and the other girl he will have to stop talking to me. Which i thought was fair enough...

But a while later, now he isn't seeing anyone and we've got to talking again, which i do like cause we get along so well. And he's asked if he can take me out, but although i said yes. I'm just thinking whether or not i should give him a chance and see where it goes? I don't want to lead him on like he did to me, or him to get to know another girl and say to her that it's nothing much with us.

I don't know what to do!?.......
