A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (25 January 2012):

The problem with lying, is that there is nothing the 'liar' can do other than subsequently be honest and good. The forgiveness, the 'moving forward', the actual fixing comes from the other person.

All you can do now is be honest, be a good person and hope that your boyfriend forgives you and gives you another chance. Most of the actual work will have to come from him. So you have to put your trust in him whilst making it clear that you are a good, honest person worth another chance.

eek agony auntthere is a problem. Once trust is lost its very difficult to re-gain. You have lied to him. (How serious this is i dont know) from you comment of "i did not cheat" Im guessing you was either seeing someone or talking/flirting with someone behind his back.

You will have to show him 100% that you want to be with him you will have to make a lot of effort for a long time. But be warned. Whatever it is will always be in the back of his mind.
