Hi, I've had a prior questions about my bf working too much and breaking promises. Well, now I need some parenting advice. I have a 2 month old daughter who was a preemie and she gets a lot of colic. Can someone please tell me what I can use other than gas drops because they don't work.

NorGermIsh agony auntHi.....I have also been through this with my first daughter....she cried and cried and cried....At one point I found that external noise helped her to sleep. I had her in the bathroom with me....as I turned on the bath water she became more calm and seemed to quiet down. Then at another point I noticed the Vaccuum cleaner noise made gave her releif also. So what I did was record these two sounds and played them through a stereo to help her during the days and nights get some rest....and also for the parents.:)))) Yes there are other ways and we tried them all some worked and some didn't...we were desparate. It turns out that some external noises cause the infants to basically shut down because the information is too much to take in. Not loud noise even in a car seat on the dryer while it is running works...if you are present.

Good luck:)

Hi, i've been there. if i was you i'd go and visit your doctor or GP. my daughter had really bad colic and used to cry for hours, after a bit of investigation we discovered that she actually had reflux, and was continuasly bringing up her milk. With a bit of medication she was better in no time, and you wouldn't believe the difference. Another idea is if your breastfeeding, look at what your eating at the times the colic is at it's worst as what you eat can effect how your milk sits in your baby's stomach. Goodluck and don't forget they grow out of it pretty quickly. Just remember she is your beautiful little miracle and treasure every moment because they grow up so quickly.

i know what you arte going through it's HELL you need to go to your GP or health visiter and tell them that the colic grops are not workin another thing you can use is gripe water before every feed. colic in small babies is common but thet do grow out of it also if she is in alot of pain put her in a bath this helps you can also buy colic teats from the chemist as there might be air getting in when she is feeding the only other advice i can give is get support from your man and family as this is quite draining as my daughter who is 16 now used to start as midnight and cry for hours it was murder ah the good old days
