My parents can't communicate with my boyfriend

A female Canada, anonymous writes:

My parents seems to claim they don't know my boyfriend well enough. We have been dating for 3 years (I'm 25 and he's 27). He comes over and stay every 2nd weekends at my parent's house. My parents don't speak English very well, and my boyfriend is British. Communication is of course not as good if my parent's first language is the same as my bf's. I know my bf tries to talk to them as much as he can, but how can you hold a long conversation if they don't fully understands each other? It doesn't help when my parents goes on holiday all the time too. My bf does put in effort, such as coming to our family trip, go to dinners with them, etc. But I guess it's still not enough in my parent's standard.

A couple days ago, my parents and I were watching a show. It's about how a guy tries to plan out how to get all the girl's family's money and kills the entire family at the end. My parents were telling me sometimes they worry if my bf will be like the guy. I was so shocked. How can they say such thing? What else can I do?
