Who is looking after you if your parents are away? If there is a sensible female tell her. If there is no one then well its down to you as Oliva suggests is the best way.

Olivia(Y). agony auntYou need to sit your little sister down and explain to her that it happens to every girl and theres nothing to be embarrested about.

Go to the shops and buy her some pads and tell her to put them in her knickers and change it every 4 hours. At night give her a hot water bottle for the pain as the first period is always very painfull.

Just be there for her. I was 8 and at school when i had my first period and i thought i was going to die and sat in the toilet crying.

Good luck :)

say_anything agony auntmake sure you have some pads in, first of all, and maybe clean up the bed for her so she doesn't have to do that task herself or feel humiliated if your parents were to come home and find the sheets.

i don't mean anything by this, but i take it she does understand about periods and everything? i'm sure she does but try talking her through it all again, just in case.

it must be strange for this to have happened to your baby sister at such an inoppurtune moment for everyone, but stay calm and keep a positive tone and try to talk to her about it in a relaxed way so she doesn't freak any more than she probably is already. once she calms down she may appreciate her big sister's input as you will already have gone through this yourself more recently than say, your mum, and be able to understand how she feels.

good luck & best wishes.
