What is going on in his life at the moment?
I think you best bet is to talk to him about it and see how he feels. Then find out if there is anything to boost him up or help with the things he is stressed about.
I'm guessing you have tried being romantic and injecting some new excitement in like making sure you two go out on a date once a week or just booking into a hotel down the road once a month, and other things like that?
