Tell him it would mean a lot to you if he could attend to atleast one or two family functions. If he really cares about you he should compromise for you and do something that he does not enjoy. And about your sister and her daughter, maybe get them to stay out of eachother's way to avoid conflict. Ask your fiance why he doesn't like attending family functions, maybe there is more to it than not liking your sister and her daughter. Basically, talk to him about it and come up with a solution together.
