side-note my ex contacted me once, and i was very happy to hear from him, but then i didn't know what to say, how to reply, etc., i wrote back a couple of weeks later said hi, but then nothing else from him.

reader, anonymous, writes (6 July 2008): Bizzare...there could be several reasons. One he might still like you but is 'saving' replying to these texts in his own fear that he won't speak to you again after. Two he might just be playing around with you. Three he might just be curious.
Again you can't assume. I suggest you try and find out whats going on with his life through people that know him best - friends etc. I suggest you text him saying that your not going to be messed around, and that if he wants to talk to you then he'll need to do it soon otherwise thats it.
Try not to hang onto something that might not happen. Handing onto hope usually ends badly...
