My boyfriend cannot go to sleep with me at night. We went through a phase where we finally managed to get it right then I came back late one night and through out the pattern.

Now he is back in the spare room listening to boring fm all night. I'm so frustrated he wont try again and feel like this will become a big probmen if we cant get this right.

Everything else in our reltionship works and I feel that we are perfect for each other so I really dont want this little fracture to over the years become the reason we break.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (22 June 2009):

sumtimes these problems are linked to sex, do you have a healthy sex life? not wanting to sleep with you could be because he wants sex and you're not giving it to him (so sleeping next to you is like teasing him)... is the sex any good?

baddogbj agony auntDon't let this be a problem. Being together in the same bed is great for sex, for snuggling and chatting and all kinds of things but for some of us its just not a great arrangement for sleeping. My wife likes to sleep about 3 hours a night more than I do and any temperature that makes her feel warm and cosy makes me feel uncomfortably hot. I have a great big bed and she has a double mattress surrounded by pillows in a kind of nest arrangement on the floor ! We each have our own space for sleeping but we're always welcome to visit whenever we want to do something other than sleep. Has worked well for us for over a decade.
