Why could this be?I dont think I could be pregnant because the last time I had sex was a long time ago- 7 months and I have had all my periods since then, besides for the last dec one and this one for this month as well. Ive never missed a period before, mine have always come on time. So this is really odd. Should I be worried? Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Remember that just about anyone with the know-how can set up a website. Not every bit of information from them should be taken as totally accurate. GP's don't usually make mistakes on this sort of thing. Trust her.

Hi. Just remember that it is your choice, if you want to have a full check up for STDs. All you need to do is book an appointment at your local GUM clinic.

She said that could be the cause. Or a hormonal problem. She said to wait until the end of Feb and if I still havent got it, then I need to come back and have some blood tests and stuff done.
I asked her if an STD could cause a late period and she said it couldnt. Im really confused now. Cause ive found a fair few web sites that say STDs can cause irregular periods but then ive found a few others that say they cant. So she didnt do any STD tests.

You can be checked for HIV through a blood test; most other tests are done by scraping the neck of the womb, a bit like a smear test. The medical practitioner will scrape some cells off the cervix and send them to a lab to test for things like Clamydia and other STDs.
It's not painful.
Good luck!

Uncle_Phil- sorry I didn't think to give my age. I am 18, so menopause is out of the question.
Annalisa- I think I will go have a check out with my doctor. Just wondering though, what sort of tests do they do for STD's? Like are they just blood tests or what? I havent had unprotected sex but ive been told that there is a chance you can still catch some.

You don't give any clue as to your age. If you're over 45-ish maybe it's the onset of the menopause?

Periods are affected by stress, rapid weight gain or loss.
If you have had unprotected sex, STDs are as much of a concirn as pregnancy and you should see a doctor.
I would suggest a full health check with your GP, and a full gynecological screen.
You're probably fine and just a little stressed, but it's worth putting your mind at rest!
Good luck!
