writes: hi, i would like to know if someone can get pregnant making love while in your period. my boyfriend and i made love when i was in my period, i told him i was in my period but you know men, i thought he was going to use a condom, coz i hear its harmful making love in your period witohout a condom(maybe its just a myth)but like i said i was suprised that he didin't use a condom. i really would like to know if i can get pregnant, today i feel kinda queasyish or maybe i'm being paranoid. please help.

There is nothing harmful for the bloke if you have sex during a period, but it can be a bit off putting and messy. Condoms are the best solution at all times. Never take anything to chance, Take care x

It is reduced when you are having a period but it is not impossible. I have known a couple of people who have fallen pregnant whilst having sex during their period so it would seem its more likely than a lot of people think it is.
Also remember though that stress and worry can delay a period signifigantly so try not to let this overly worry you as it could push your cycle out of sync.
I have not heard any thing about it being harmful to have sex during your period without a condom, that doesn't make any sense to me.

reader, anonymous, writes (9 November 2006): hi, u can but the medical explanation is that u cant as your body is not ready but they still cant explain why i did fell pregnant during my second day of a very heavy flow. i normally go for only 3days so my second day is at the pick but i did get preganant i didnt confuse dates bcos my bf and i were not having sex at all we agreed we will have it when we were ready so that day its just happened and we regretted it and agreed it was a mistake we didnt do it and surpriseee i was pregnant. but our bodies are diffrent so maybe u are one of those who cant but just run some tests to ease ur mind and next time be very careful use protection.
