A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Is it normal or just common for autistic men, men with autism, to become 30 year old virgins? or just remain virgins later than normal? to go well into their 20s or even reach 30s or older and to have never had a girlfriend before?

It wouldn't surprise me if it is true. Since autism, being on the spectrum, affects a persons ability to read and understand social cues, affects their ability to socialize and connect with others, their social-skills.

It makes sense that its going to affect mens dating lives a lot more than womens dating lives, since i highly doubt this tradition will ever change, but that is, men always having been expected to court women and make the first move, do the asking out, be the initiators in starting a relationship.

I read a depressing question on here, of a guy, man, with autism, he says he is 36 and never been on a single date in his whole life.

At the same time, cases like that depress me and make me mad, because they remind me they are male-dominated, as in, the majority of people in the world who go deep or late into adulthood, never had a relationship before, still a virgin, are male.
