Is it a good idea to make a hand made gift for your boyfriend? I mean... do guys appreciate stuff like hand made cards/poems/a home made dinner etc for them or is it considered to be too mushy?

Griffo agony auntIf you are having a home dinner, wear a nice dress as though you are going out. It helps to make the moment more special and it's not often that we do this anymore, a tradition almost forgotten.

You may both make the dinner together or you can surprise him when he comes over. A picnic is also nice, find a field where you can eat some cheese and drink some wine under a secluded special tree you both discover, followed by kissing and love making. But the secret is to be chivalrous and mysterious.

My girlfriend gave me a card on my birthday just this year, but we've been only dating a month before then. I really loved it, I guess it would depend also on the content of the card, because I felt really touched with what she said, and I know I'll treasure it always.

glassblower agony auntMy boyfriend likes it. He says he'd feel guilty if I bought him anything because he always gets me cards and the like. I hope your next boyfriend is better than your ex and treats you right. :) Best of luck! xoxo 3 glassblower

A male reader, Griffo Australia +, writes (19 October 2010):

Griffo agony auntI think a home made dinner is very sexy. But cards and flowers are usually things that men would give to a woman. I think if you do things that are sexy you may get a better response. For most, women are more emotional beings and men are more physical beings we think of sex a lot so if you do sexy things to make him think of you in a sexy way that would be nice to him for sure

Amazingly, we do. We never admit it though. That's where the old saying "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" - hence why if you cook something for your boyfriend it will pretty much work. Cards and poems are also treasured, even if it doesn't seem so at times.
