 Yeah, a kiss is just the standard peck on the lips, which can actually be quite passionate if you do a few in quick succession and let it last for a few seconds.
'Snogging' is basically when you put your tongue into each others mouths and kinda tickle each others whilst you're kissing.
I used to prefer 'snogging' a lot more, but since in the last few times I've had sex and we've been kissing, I find it a lot more passionate and sexy to have a few kisses that last a few seconds each.

When you lean in just stay there and kind off hold his head close to yours, then when he stops kissing you, you just stay there the difference is it is different to kissing. You also need to have your heads not straight on you need to be tilted a bit. it's hard to explain because I snogged/made out with my gf of 2 weeks for the first time. The only way to find out how is to watch films. When your ready just slide your tongue into his mouth and he should do the same. :) hope this helps
