I dated several older women in my early 20's, and in fact my ex-wife is 5 years older than I am. My experience is that it just doesn't tend to work out in the long run when the woman is a little older than the guy. I'm generalizing here, but women begin to desire things like marriage and children at a younger age than then average guy, and that can lead to either the end of the relationship or the guy feeling pressured into something he's not sure he really wants.
In a non-serious relationship I doubt there would be any issues, but if you're wanting something that will eventually lead to commitment then there are potential issues that need to be talked through just to make sure your boyfriend is on the same plane you are.
