Is it possible to pass on thrush to your Boyfriend?

Tagged as: Health, Sex<< Previous question   Next question >>
Question - (25 May 2010) 2 Answers - (Newest, 25 May 2010)
A female Ireland age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have some symptoms that are quite like thrush.

However my boyfriend and I had sex sunday night and now he appears to have the same symptoms.

Red gentils, itchiness, White clumps, odour etc.

Is it possible that I could have thrush and passed it onto him?

It is not an STI as we've only ever slept together.

Thanks :)

Myrrh agony auntYes its possible for guys to get thrush too and for it to be passed from one to the other. So you will both need treatment.

Tisha-1 agony auntIt could be what we Americans call a yeast infection, you call it thrush. Candidiasis is probably a more accurate term.

Either way, if you have these symptoms, and now he has these symptoms, it doesn't take a rocket scientist (which I am NOT) to say that you probably did give it to him. Therefore, it is a sexually transmitted infection, even though the two of you have only ever been with each other. Just to split hairs. :D

But my point is that you both now need medical attention. Go see your doctors and refrain from sexual contact until you have this diagnosed and properly treated by a real licensed medical health professional (which I am NOT as well), not people who are guessing here on the internet.

You'll be fine, just be smart and pro-active about your health! Good luck.
