Ok find out what her interests are. Music would be a good safe topic to talk about given your age. Conversation should never feel awkward and being shy can be tough but it can also be a really good quality. I was really shy at school and hardly spoke. Boy am I making up for it now! What do you like to do? Is there an activity you enjoy after school ie surfing, music, skateboarding, mountain bike riding, skiing, If she digs you mate then get her to come along to one of your activities and include her. If you are really shy then why not do like a group activity with her for example white water rafting, hot air balloon so that there are other people there in the group so that the focus is not soley on you making conversation but on the activity itself. That way the conversation will flow easier and won't seem like you have to constantly think of things to say. Ok mate.
