A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi all, need some advice, I'm starting to feel really down and depressed.

Last year my doctor changed my contraceptive pill to Yasmin, saying that for my age (I'm 18) that it would suit

me better. For the last year I have suffered from

thrush twice, maybe even three times a

month. I went to her 6 times through out the year and each time she gave me antibiotics. The first course of antibiotics cleared the thrush up and made sex a pleasure again. But a month later thrush came back.

A year later and I'm back to my old contraceptive pill and my thrush has gone, however, I'm still left with a horrible burning/stinging sensation during sex and after sex it's making my life miserable. I've slept with my boyfriend twice in 4 months.

I've recently been given the cream eumovate, to use inside

My vagina as she thinks the skin is raw after thrush. However, the leaflet has a big warning saying not to use internally such as in the vagina or nose. I've used it as instructed, but things seem

To be getting worse. I'm not sure if I'm paying

More attention to the burning now though as I'm looking for improvements. What do you think i shall do. I'm meant to use it for 2 weeks. Thanks x

A female reader, anonymous, writes (7 April 2011):

You need to discuss you case with a physician who can discuss your medical history and examine you. Birth control itself does not cause thrush but other medications or medical conditions could be contributing to your recurrent thrush.

If you are not taking your birth control it is important to use another form of birth control to prevent pregnancy.
