i have been with my partner who is 27 for a year and a half now, he suffers from severe anxiety so every now and then he likes to be alone as he gets frustrated being around the same person for too long. today in the car he told me,

"sometimes i want to marry you so i can keep you forever"

do guys say things like that without thinking sometimes?

A female reader, fi_the_tree United Kingdom +, writes (9 March 2011):

fi_the_tree agony auntMaybe he's worried that his anxiety will result in you leaving him maybe. I'm sure you're not the type of person to do that, but when he has these anxiety attacks he may feel as though he is pushing you away, even though he can't help it.

If you have no intention of leaving him, then let him know that, even when he is at his worst. Has you bf been to see anyone about this anxiety??? If not, it might be wise to go and see a doctor, they can refer him onto someone who can set up treatment/councelling to help with his anxiety.

Just keep assuring him that you love him and that you are there to support him. All the best x
