And besides, even if you are a crap kisser, i'm sure he will understand.

 I think if you really want to kiss him then you should. It would be a pretty great memory for you both to remember your first kiss on new years.
It is scary to do things you've never done before. what always helps me is to go online and get tips, it makes me feel more confident to know a little about what I'm doing. I think you should decide if it's right during the moment; if you are spontaneous you will feel more confident.
