A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

hey!

im not worried about this but just curious. im 16 and have had a boyfriend for the last month and a half. whenever we hug he always feels my hips and my curvy bits (not my boobs) and stuff.

now recently i have heard from a lot of people that men like curvy girls and not really skinny ones. i am quite a curvy girl i think: i weigh 8 stone and im 5 ft 1.

but now i keep hearing how they like curves it makes me want to be even more curvy! so im starting to eat more and more food to put on weight so i can be even more curvy.

is this an eating disorder or is it turning into one?

Ponungalungb agony auntEat a healthy diet and forget about trying to be "curvy" for guys. I've dated all shapes and sizes and I think the person inside the body is the most important feature. Once you start overeating, it's difficult to control. Work on your intellect, eat healthy, and exercise. . . and let the boys wait in line.

Good luck!

Farris agony auntJust be yourself. Be what you are comfortable being, and stay healthy. Never change yourself to try to get guys to like you.

And it's worth noting that, not ALL guys like curvy girls, and hate skinny girls. There are a huge variety of men around the world and what comes with them is the variety of things that they could like about women. There's someone out there for everyone else!

Besides, body weight is a pretty shallow way to chose a partner (Unless of course the person in question is heavily overweight or underweight), so again, I will tell you just to stay the way you are!

Best wishes.

A female reader, Carina South Africa +, writes (10 March 2007):

Carina agony auntNo, it's not an eating disorder, but I would worry about it developing into a problem if you try to please your boyfriend. The most important thing is to be happy with yourself and what you want. If you're happy to be a little curvier then that's fine, but don't do things like that just to please the men in your life. It's not a healthy attitude. You are you and making yourself feel happy is the most important thing. Whatever body shape makes you feel happy and comfortable is the right one. It's true that different guys have different ideas of what they like and if this relationship ends then you may regret putting on weight. However, you won't regret anything if you're doing what suits you personally. Hope that helps.

aunty t agony auntNo i dont think this is and eating disorder. You want to change your shape for your boyfriend and its only natural to want him to like you. But i really dont think this is the answer. It very easy when you start eating more to get out of the habit and you could end up putting weight on in the places you dont want to. Every guy is different so what if this relationship breaks up and you find a guy who you like but doesnt like you because your curvy. What then? Be happy with your shape he likes you for who you are.

Good luck
