I'm confused about my orientation, and I don't know what to do?

A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Hi,

I'm 14 and I'm having some problems with my sexual orientation.

Please bear with me, this might be a little long.

So, okay, around last year me and my siblings broke out of our mom's religion after the world didn't end. I didn't truly believe it would happen, but out of fear I stuck with it up until I was right. One of her main things was her disgust for homosexuals. I don't think so, and I've suggested it. Now to the main point...

Before last year, the idea of me being in a relationship with a woman, I'd never have thought of it. I love being a girl, and I think like other girls. I not only have fantasized about kissing and even... Having sex w/ girls, but also being in a relationship with one. I had a boyfriend last year, it was stupid and I knew we were too young to last, he was immature and the whole time I had confused feelings about my best friend Calvin (Who is a bisexual girl, that's her nickname). I have masturbated to the thought of sex with girls, everything. But I'm attracted to guys too sometimes! Is this just some phase? What if my family sees me differently? My sister and 2 of my 3 brothers support gay people, but I don't think they'd apply it to their baby sister.

I still find myself attracted to guys, but I don't know. I'm probably bisexual, but does it sound like this something I'll get through? Maybe I still have the mindset that it's wrong?

Being confused about stuff is the trademark of being a teenager. Feelings can get very messed up. Look after yourself.

You have a risk from being told what to do by others and they can take advantage of you. Its good that you are starting to ask questions and not believe everything you hear.

But, don't try to find all the answers straight away, some will take years. The great thing for you is that you have all the time in the world so just relax and enjoy being you.

This is really not a big deal. There are so many people who are bisexual or at least bicurious and you should really not worry about it. I would only tell the siblings who support your orientation becuase otherwise it could harm your family. Good luck!

Give it time :') Honestly, time makes everything so much clearer.

Sexuality is a spectrum and its okay not knowing where you would place yourself on that. Its my opinion that you can never be 100% stright or gay its all about the people that you meet. Nothing is wrong with you at all, don't try and label yourself.
