I'm 16 years old and have been out of school for the summer for about a month and I'm stuck at home all day with no contact with my friends or girls.

Ever since I can remember I've fantasized about girls and have had girlfriends in the past. But now since I've been out of school I've been feeling funny and I don't think about girls too much anymore. I'm worried that I might be turning gay. Am I right or Am I just bored out of my mind and miss my friends? I don't Look at guys sexualy and Am still a virgin. I just need some Help! I'm so confused.

A male reader, Mr S United Kingdom +, writes (17 July 2006):

Mr S agony auntI would say that you will find that time will sort you out. You are maturing into a young man and as such you will develop a more selective eye for the ladies. Where you will be drawn to certain types of girls and women and not gust any girl that shows you a bit cleavage or leg, this is normal. You will mature to be a little more selective over the opposite sex and as your hormones return to earth things will fall into place.

As for you being gay I would not worry about it to much. There no signs of you starting to be attracted to other men. Therefore, I would say you are not as you put it “turning gay.” Even if you are gay (People don’t tern gay) this is nothing to be ashamed of.

Good luck and don’t worry things will work them selves out with time

willywombat agony auntAt 16 I think you would be a little young to completely pigeon-hole yourself! So what, you haven't had thoughts for a short while....they are not compulsory you know.

Stop worrying and start enjoying life!!

A reader, anonymous, writes (17 July 2006):

Not thinking about girls doesn't make you gay. Heck, thinking about guys wouldn't even make you gay. You're just not around all the high school hunnies right now, and as the old saying goes "out of sight, out of mind." Just because you're not drooling over Carmen Electra or Pamela Anderson at the moment doesn't bring you anywhere near being a homosexual. Drooling over Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom (as I often do), however, would bring you a little closer, but still wouldn't make you gay. Just think of this as your brain's vacation from women. Many men should consider taking the same vacation. Hope you're feeling better now! Best of luck!
