 I don't think he will think that you are weird, its a perfectly normal thing to do. I would not ask him, normally these thing happen of their own accord. Wait till you are both feeling sexual and maybe kissing amd cuddling etc and just work your way down. You will soon know if he is willing for you to proceed or not.
