 Your parents will be expecting you to start meeting guys. They will naturally want to meet the guy. You don't have to tell them about him immediately give it some time and if it looks like it will be serious then tell them, and I can almost guarantee that they would rather know about him and meet him and then not know about him!
If you really can't face talking to them face to face then perhaps write them a letter with all the necessary info!

OP; Don't be embarassed, just bring it up casually when you're sitting in the living room with them, or as another poster said, tell them over the phone. They will probably ask you a few questions about him, but that's bound to happen! They wanna know who's taking out their (not so little) daughter, lol :). They don't have to meet him straight away if you're not comfortable with it, give it 1-3 months, if it progresses to then.
