Okay, so I met this guy at a high school football game... he was nice to me, and we chatted... we exchange numbers and started texting and hanging out more... this went on for a month. One day, he wasn't talking, i asked what was wrong. He said he was grounded. I believed him. A couple of days later, I see him after school. I go up to him and say "hey" he was quiet. I had no idea what was going on. I would wait for him after school, i thought we were friends, but every time he sees me he ignores me. I don't know what I did wrong. I didn't like him more than just a friend. Maybe he thought i liked him more than a friend? I had no idea what had happened to our relationship... I decided i was done with him, but everything just makes it harder just going to school and seeing him. I can't delete his texts for some reason. I want to so bad. I want to forget about him, forget that we hung out. Cuz every time we hung out, I would have a great time. I know I didn't do anything wrong. What should I do?

A female reader, Dorothy Dix Australia +, writes (19 November 2010):

Hi there. You will just have to take it slowly now.

At least say hi to him when you see him and try to start up a conversation.

If you get to talk to him alone, perhaps you could ask him if everything is going ok in his life. Something like - "Hi, how's things?" Nothing too heavy.

Just see what he says.

It's hard to know what's going on with him. But at least if you try being friendly with him, that's a good start.

Don't try to push for anything other than friendship for now though, and see how it goes.
