writes:i don't know what this is! i feel so warm and fuzzy when I'm around him. Every time he's around it's like I'm happy. I couldn't help but think, am I in love with my cousin? Is that even illegal? He's just so darn cute and I can't but think I am. When he's around other girls I get crazy jealous! I mean it's crazy what I can do. Things get way to out of hand. When he hugs me I feel so good. He tells me he loves me, and sometimes I forget we're cousins and he really does love me. But then again, he only loves me because I'm his family. I don't wnt to feel this way! I don't like the feeling. I do feel the connection between us. But it's just so hard to not love him. Help?

 it's only illegal if you two were to marry but it's not illegal to be attracted to him. if he's a distant cousin then i see how that could happen. im having that same thing now. yes it's kinda weird to have crush on a cousin but theres no real problem with it. you cant control who your attracted to; its just about impossible so dont worry too much about it.

reader, anonymous, writes (27 December 2010): Aunt Honesty... the risk that cousins will create a child any less normal than usual is virtually non existent as they are not close enough genetically. Both sides would have to bad reccessive genes that become activated in the child for that to happen.
It depends on the laws. Or you could move to England or any of the less prudish societies on the planet.

 I agree with aunt honesty, in addition to what she said it is indeed illegal to date your first cousin in the U.S.. It's considered incest. Now, if this is your third cousin, you start getting a little distant down the family tree then it's legal. Second cousins, I'm unsure about you may want to check the law on that one.

 Am afraid that yes if he is your first cousin then it is illegal to have a sexual relationship with your cousin, plus if you were to date and you ended up pregnant then there is a higher risk that there would be something mentally or physically wrong with your child because you and your cousin share the same genes.
Of course i understand you cant help who you fall for, but you need to try your hardest to get over this guy, try and avoid him as much as possible. You need some distance from him at the moment, go out with friends and try and meet guys that arent related to you and get to know them.
