writes:I have been taliking to a boy i met at a party for about a month now. we have met a few times mostly with our mates with us. whenever we say bye we always hug, but nothing else has happend. im not sure wether he likes me but we were out once and he put his arm around me. i do think he is generally shy with girls but i dont know what to do. please help!

 Sounds like he probably does like you! Most boys around your age are pretty shy when it comes to girls and the ones that aren't probably shouldn't be trusted. Take your time and get to know him, have a laugh together. That will give him a chance to grow comfortable around you, and you a chance to suss out if he is really worthy of your affections! You can encourage him by laughing at his jokes (when they are funny) making fun of him a little bit if you can do it in a sweet way, and by smiling around him. Guys like happy girls who are fun to be around! If he put his arm around you once, then just give it time, he'll find the courage to maybe tell you how he feels, but don't scare him by forcing anything too quickly. Good luck!

To find out with him subtely flirt with him and see how he reacts... the hugging and him puttin his arm around you is a good sign that he likes you... but it could also mean that he just feels comfortable around you as a friend
maybe arrange a double date with one of your friends and one of his friends and see how things go...
or find out a movie that you both want to see and go together
