Ok so im dating a guy for about 3 months now. I moved with him and everythng seems fine. Except one thing. We got a computer from his friend and downloaded limewire. A few times i caught him downloading porn. I didnt make a deal about it. But then when i had the computer to myself outa curiousity i searched through it. In the recycle bin was childporn. When i went off over it he insisted the computer loaded it itself and he thought the problem was fixed. The comp. Did kinda do what it wanted but nothing like that before. Still he should have brought it to my attention. Could this be a result of just downloading a bad adult porn and catching a virus? I refuse to be with someone who would be into that stuff!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (23 October 2010):

I remember the first time I saw child porn: In my email, which did not have a very good spam filter, was a message stating that it was a Breaking New Story: Saddam Hussein Dead at 53. This was back before they had found him, so I clicked on it. It wasn't from CNN like the email claimed, it was basically an advertisment for kiddy porn.

I also have experience downloading porn from limewire and torrent sites. This is different than visiting a porn site. Any file can have any title. While mainstream porn producers wouldn't touch kiddy porn, they are also oppossed to downloading sites because they don't make any money off of it.

One thing to keep in mind, producers of kiddy porn aren't nessacerily into kids so much as they are into the money they get from exploiting them. as a general rule, if you didn't pay for it (and it's more than just a teaser advert) it's probably not child pornography.

On the other hand, if you find out that he is into it, you should absolutly turn him in. It's a crime and for good reason.

A male reader, BigRuss United Kingdom +, writes (17 October 2010):

There is a very rare possibility that he picked up a web site what had no porn on it at all but got your computer to link to lots of child porn sites.

I'm an IT man in my day job and its a pain in the arse.

Most new web browsers have a built in pop up blocker which is how most sites like this work. But still nowadays its unlikely.

More likely is that he down loaded something of Limewire and it started to look at the sites with out him even knowing. running in the back ground.

Some adult sites are simply "fronts" for child porn sites and you click on an image and before you know it, you throwing up!.

But having said all of that you have to catch him in the act.

Make sure your computer is safe, Virus scan it (Clamwin is free), get a firewall on your pc and there a loads of free ones out there. make sure the history option on your web browser keeps all the history or you know the maximum days it will alow.

Then check it every so often, If you find some child porn, don't confront him!, check more often and if the occurrences of child porn increase. You know you have him red handed! .. give him to the cops along with the computer.

Good luck bab, this is a nasty thing to find, I hope it is all innocent for your sake.

He's lying. As far as i'm aware "normal" adult websites do not have anything to do with child abuse.

Police. He's a risk to society. If he downloaded it, chances are he wouldnt admit cause hes embarrassed ashamed or just feels guilty. Worse case scenario the police say hes not a harm and gets let go. Dont let this man present a risk to any young innocent child.

Gabrielle Stoker agony auntAdult porn makers would not, unless extremely stupid, risk associating in any way with child porn websites. I'm sorry but the explanation sounds a little far-fetched.

charliesdevil73 agony auntFirst things first, he may not be lying. Sometimes when you download something on those sites it ends up being way different than what it was advertised as. This may have happened to him. I'm not saying to wholeheartedly believe him, but give him a chance. I've gotten in deep for this before, but maybe check his history again. If it's on there again, or in the recycle bin, then it probably is him. Some people have gross, and illegal, turn-ons. Give him a chance before assuming, but if it something he's into you may have to walk away from this guy.

A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (17 October 2010):

person12345 agony auntHe's probably lying. Child porn is 100% illegal. Of course he'd lie, who wants to admit they masturbate to children getting raped? I wouldn't say you should report him to the police for it, but you shouldn't be with someone who enjoys watching children getting assaulted.
