A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I'm a shy person. Would a promotions job be the wrong kind of work for me?.

I have been offered an interview for a job as a promoter in a shopping mall. It's only part time. I would be working at the weekends. I am on Jobseeker's Allowance. I have to work 16 hours a week or above if I want to sign off benefits. This job would be for 16 hours a week, so I can do that. I do want a job, but I am wondering if this would be the right kind of work for me, as I would have to stand around all day talking to customers. What do you think?.

Honeypie agony auntTry it anyways, instead of making reasons as to WHY not try. It may be absolutely perfect for you and it may not. Not everyone can deal with crowds or strangers or noisy environment. But sometimes we have to put ourselves in situation to face those fears. Who knows you might turn out to be a true natural.

Thanks Honeypie. I'm just worried that the employer might not think that I am suitable because of my personality, or I might make some mistakes as I might be nervous. I haven't worked for a long time, so I am quite anxious about it.

If you're shy then this is PERFECT for you. A job like this will bring you out of your shell and make you a more confident person which will help you to find another job if that's what you want.

Go for it!

But for a job like this, you have to appear confident to get through the interview so work on that before the interview, but yes, this job will benefit you in the long run.

Good luck!
