A female reader, Terri +, writes (3 May 2006):

Give yourself a week to go out(not looking for a replacement, just fun). First off, do you have any friends where you are now? if so, take a vacation from your feeling for this guy. You need it and you also need to understand that men absoulely deal with their feelings much differently than women. Who knows what he's feeling right now, but if he's not willing to swallow his stupid male pride and put himself out there for you YOU NEED TO STEP BACK AND FIND COMFORT IN YOURSELF!! This is a no-brainer, he will eventually move on and so should you.
