 Well, he is trying to persuade you to keep him around with some statistic he has invented. He wants you for sex and is trying to make out that if you stay with him he is doing you a great service. How does he know about couples staying with each other that lost their virginity?

 I think it does mean he wants you for sex. If he didn't, he would make an effort to be with you and make it work, and maybe then talk about sex. But don't let anything happen until he's willing to work on things, if that's what you want to happen.
