 I feel for you! It's a shame that your parents feel that way about your boyfriend! I think that when people make judgments about skin color is just wrong!
I told my kids that just as long as they love and respect each other, skin color didn't make a difference.
Take your situation to the Lord and say a lot of prayers. It works believe me!

reader, anonymous, writes (20 October 2007): I can see this from both points of view. I can see how your parents must feel, but really in this day and age there should be no discrimination. I can also see it from his point of view, does he really want or need this hassle at his age. You must feel really torn between the two. I personally would be listening to my parents at your age. I think they would feel this way about any bloke, despite his race and colour. I got married again my parents wishes at the age of 18 and i wish i could turn back the clock and listen to them. Life is too short to be tied down with just one bloke at your age. Be young and free. Have a whale of a time. Sorry but that is my view. If it is too painful then walk away. If he really loves you, and they say love conquers all, then he will wait until you are older.

 Thats a tough one you are young, and probally a little foolish. Can this man you love support you in the world? Does this man feel the same way? You can only expect to be emotioally hurt with whatever decison you make.
