A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My ex girlfriend and I broke about a month ago after 2 years and I'm pretty sure that she already likes someone else and is moving on...which really hurts me :( But I now realize that I really need to move, but the thing is...I don't know how:( I love her so much and she's my first love. It's never easy getting over your first love...I think a lot of people can agree with me on that one.

But anyways, I've tried so hard to get over and yet I still always end up thinking about her and missing her so much...But I don't want to be feeling this pain anymore and I know that the only way it'll go away is if I move on....Some advice would really help, I'm desperate for it..Thanks!

Hi - I'm going through the same stuff as you - and yes its so incredibly hard. You do have alot of choice about how you feel at any one time. Accepting that its ok to feel depressed and hurt is the first step. By accepting thats its ok, you can then decide to either continue feeling it or decide not to- then when are are going to or not going to. You actually sound like your about half way there to getting back on your feet, you've accepted that you need to move on and now, you can make positive decisions about what you want to do - your young but no matter what the age, love hurts when you break up - its a horrible feeling. Remember the fun times with your ex and you wont get bitter - no one likes bitter people and they tend to stay single for a long time

Good luck
