Your dad, is just that, your dad and he wants you to be happy, so just tell him that this boy makes you happy and you want to go on a date with him. Try to tell him slowly, your dad still (and most likely will forever) think of you as his "baby girl" and your probably growing up WAY to fast for him. So just talk it out, he loves you and always will. He just wants the best for you, and the worst case scenario, he says no but will be impressed with you telling him about the date and will trust about this stuff more in the future.(I had the same thing happen to me, my dad said "Im not allowed dating til Im married and I cant marry 'til I date", just talk it out, the more protective he is, the more he loves you).

Just tell him how you feel! if he really loved you, he would wanna see him first, and MAYBE approve. lol im about ur age so ya
