Country Woman agony auntYou have the answers already so it is just the case of working on them, 7 stone 4 doesn't sound heavy to me and sometimes having a bit of a belly is just a case of toning the stomach muscles.

Sit ups with a frame may be useful to.

I have a lateral thigh trainer and a friend of mine said that a personal trainer had said they are great for the legs and abdominal muscles and that they are the only thing you really need. You can set the resistance on them, you can even buy them on ebay for about £35 as they advertise them on the free shopping channels for about £100.

I think sticking to one type of exercise is boring and by doing a variety it is fun and you change your perspective on life to, having a healthy eating plan rather than a diet would allow you to have the odd bit of something nice as well without punishing yourself all the time.

Keep going I am sure things will turn around but if there are any reasons why there is a massive weight gain or loss then talk to your GP as hormones and thyroid glands can also make a massive impact.

Let us know how you get on OK.

Country Woman agony auntI am not surprised you are feeling low, you are still growing and at your age you are discovering your body right now.

So you are 5 foot, my 19 year old twin nieces are about 5 ft and 5 ft 1 inch. You may stop at that or you may continue to grow so don't overly panic about your height right now.

What is your weight right now and what should your weight be for your height? If you are not sure then I think it would be good to go and visit your doctor - maybe you could ask for a female doctor if you feel that would be easier for you rather than a male doctor. However, either one can tell you what your weight should be at your age and height.

Sometimes you can see a nurse instead if there are no appointments available for a doctor for a while. I would personally confide in your mum about how you are feeling right now. She is obviously trying to encourage you to exercise with her and that is normally a better way to do it than to try and do it on your own. You have someone who is keen to work with you and best of all it is your mum at the end of the day.

I realise you are trying to cut down on what you are having to eat and drink but don't go mad with the water, perhaps break it up with some freshly squeezed orange juice or a fruit smoothie which will help you get one or two of your 5 a day fruits into your body whilst tasting really good.

I realise you are only having the junk food at the weekend and that is better than gorging during the week but don't go too mad, for instance perhaps instead of a McDonalds or somewhere similar try a Subway as their sandwiches are made with no fat in them at all and they also do a low calorie version to. However, the fat intake from a Subway is so much better than anywhere else and it is cool to eat there to and really really tasty so your friend's would enjoy it to.

Do you have a Nintendo Wii at home because if you did you can get the Fit pad and it is so much more fun to do that than watching a DVD all the time. Try doing some walking if it is better weather and encourage your mum to do it to. Also as the weather improves perhaps a bike ride so you break up the type of exercises you are doing. Swimming is also very good so think about that as well. Joining a gym is a good idea but I realise it comes down to money at the end of the day.

Dieting is never a good idea but a change in our eating plan is good and it can be interesting not boring as I think you are currently in a bit of a rut and that is harder to work with, I think encouraging your mum to try different exercises is good. I tried a recipe out of the Gillian McKeith cook book, you are what you eat. It was a mushroom stroganoff and they also do a mushroom risotto plus loads of other ideas.

Cooking food in a wok is good fun to. If you like fish try cooking or getting your mum to do some with some good vegetables like some mange tout, baby sweetcorn or fine green beans, they taste great. If your mum has a steamer it will cook the vegetables much better and they taste a lot sweeter. One of the old George Forman grills can be good to.

Look so many of us battle with our weight all the time and I should know, if you feel unhealthy or are unhappy with your weight and you are self conscious then get the help but get your mum to come with you to the doctor as well as they always recommend getting medical advice before you start any new eating plan/diet. They can even help you by seeing a dietician if your weight is to high as they will weigh you monthly etc.

Hope some of the above helps.
