I am so disgusted with my weight that I cringe every time I look in the mirror.

I would like to have a nice figure, and I would like to be able to wear stylish clothes and be poised and confident, and it makes me cringe to see all the blubber around my thighs, middle, etc. I'm tired of feeling bad about myself. I'm not anorexic, I don't plan to starve myself and I know that I need to lose weight, because no one needs to have rolls of fat... and it's repulsive.

I feel like a disgusting pig, and I've decided that I want to change. I even have a date, circled in red on the calendar... it's the day after tomorrow.

Two things are driving me crazy. I'm scared that I'm gonna fail. I'm 29, and I've heard of people older than me that have lost a good deal of weight, but I'm so afraid that I'll try, and that for some physiological reason, I can't lose weight.

The other problem is that I don't know "HOW." I know, excercise and diet, it seems simple enough, but it really confuses me. I don't know what portions to eat, just that you should eat fruit, vegetables, etc., and avoid junk food, soft drinks. I don't know how MUCH exercise to do. I don't have the means to go to a nutritionist... but I really need to know.

How do you know if you're one of those people who physically just can't lose weight?

How can I find out what will be an effective way? Is it too late for me, as a woman of my age? (It's easier for guys, I know)

I'm so sick of feeling bad about how I look.

Thanks if you can help me.

A reader, anonymous, writes (14 November 2008):

UNFORTUNATELY IF YOU LIVE IN THE USA, you became a victim of our food industry. The completely corrupted food industry created new generation of fat, not healthy, misserable people.

Ingredients that are in all packaged foods are poison for your body. One of the major ingredients that started using 30 years ago is high fructose corn syrop, that block part of your brain that tells you that you had enough food in your stomac. That's how we have 60% people with obecity problems.

because of health reasons and human reasons I don't eat anything that came from animal or seafood, but you don't have to go that far.

Proper diet is 90% of succes, then GYM comes into the game

Sounds like you really need this change in your life, and this is a very good beginning.

Here are my advices:

1. Stop buying packaged foods, including drinks. No more slushes, smoothies(yes, smoothies)-loaded with sugar, frapuchinos, sodas, etc. WATER is your only drink now. If you can't do that, don't even continue. No more canned foods, no more bagels, candy bars or so called"health bars". THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU.

Don't be mislead by food industry advertizings. This is the only way how to get your health and natural beauty

back.

2.Include a lot of raw products in your day:fruits, vegetables. Try to cook these products as less as possible.Try not to fry anything, and don't use oils with carbs or proteins

3. Avoid white: spagetti, bread, rice, sugar. Use all this product the darkest color possible.

4. Eat often and small. I eat 6 times a day. apple for a snack I count for one time.

5. And of-course water 2 liters a day.

If you do this four you'll see how rapidly you start loosing weigh, especially the first weeks. You don't want to loose to much a week later on, it will star eating your muscles.

then post your question again, see how you doing in a couple of weeks. As far as activities go, don't stress over it. Start with walks, that's how I started, then move to light aerobics, weight lifting, yoga and so on. But remember: proper nutrition is the key. It doesn't mater how much you exercise, if you eat crap it won't work. You will still have a layer of fat over your muscles and you will still those ugly rolls.

Best of luck. Let us know how you are doing

The best thing you can do is find an exercise that you like. Many people don't like the gym routine, I was one of them. What I did like was hiking, biking, swimming, rollerblading etc. I went through phases when I would blade every day and then 6 months later bought a bike and rode that every day, only to get tired of that and adopt kayaking.

The thing is to find something you like to do (perhaps you would like the gym) that involves being physical, at first it may be just walking around the lake. The beauty of it is, you are doing something that you enjoy that burns calories AND you have less time to eat.

I agree with the previous aunt, dieting is not the thing that will last, a change in life style will do you good.

My friend tried this and It really worked for her.

As soon as you wake up in the morning Please take juice of 1 lemon+bearably hot 1 glass water+honey(2 teaspoons) on an empty stomach(after brushing of course).Continue for a month regularly.May I please add that its not the woman who is the prettiest who looks gorgeous but the woman who believes in herself in the prettiest.Confidence adds a kind of sexy charm that is unbeatable.

There are lots of helpful links on the internet. You'll probably learn more than you ever wanted to know by spending an hour googling weight loss. And quite honestly, you'll be surprised by how little you need to change to see results.

I have 4 pieces of advice that come to mind (and I should point out these are from experience):

1) enlist friends to join you or help you. Use them as motivation and to keep yourself in check if you ever feel week. As you have success, you confidence will grow and your willpower to keep going will snowball.

2)Do NOT think of this as a diet. It is a lifestyle change. Diets are things you go on and off of; lifestyle changes are forever. This is purely mental, but I find it helps.

3)Do NOT get discouraged if/when you plateau. It happens to everyone and it just takes a little more time/effort to break.

4)Set reasonable goals for yourself. Have an ultimate goal in mind whether it's your weight, fitting into a certain outfit, or whatever. But also have intermediate goals that you can reach more easily/quickly and use these as a springboard to the next goals.

GOOD LUCK!

A female reader, el Lori United States +, writes (14 November 2008):

el Lori agony aunt Weight is an issue many women struggle with so do not feel alone because you are not, so hang in there. Start by taking little steps such as drinking lots of water instead, take the stairs instead of an elevator, and don't eat late, eat small and healthy potions, healthy snacking it the way to do it. Begin a reasonable weight loss goal for the week. Also, get a fellow girl to lose it with you studies show it's better to lose weight in pairs. Also, you can be each others rock when those cravings start. Remember you can do it and believe in yourself. Hope this helps and Good luck!
