Dear Cupid,

I am completely and hopelessly infactuated with this boy in the year above me at the college I attend. Were both part of the college debating society and so I know him and he knows me but were more collegues than friends, if you know what I mean. Hes already got a girlfriend and hes off to study to oxford later this year....even though Im applying there this year(coincedentally to do same course as he is, but at a different college to him) I am heartbroken, the chances of me getting accepted to Oxford are slim so its unlikely ill ever see him again in my life.

I cant forget him, I feel like im trapped in a fortress of his memories. I constantly feel miserable, dissatisfied and regretful about how I was never brave enough to take things further....(just a conversation would have made a difference)

I know all infactuations fade....but it just seems like such a unlikely prospect from where im standing and im not sure its something I really want....What do I do?

What can I do to move on from this madness and return to reality?

A female reader, Butterflyx United Kingdom +, writes (22 May 2009):

Butterflyx agony auntAhh high school infatuation is a tough thing, but although you can't see it now in a couple of years you probably won't even remember his name.

You can find a guy (one that you actually like otherwise it's pointless) and take your mind of your crush. The best option though would be to talk to a close friend about it, it'll seem less serious then and you'll be able to giggle about it with someone.

Hope this helps x
