How to let him down easily

A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Okay, so this guy who sits at my table in math class really likes me and I've noticed it for a while now. He used to talk to me but now he has gotten more nervous around me and if he does, he doesn't look at me. Sometimes I catch him looking at me when he thinks I'm not paying attention. The other two guys at my table keep making fun of the fact that he likes me and he says he doesn't when they keep bringing it up. It's really awkward. I've told them to stop because I don't like him and I don't want him to get the wrong idea but it doesn't work. Also I've been planning on asking out my admirer's best friend but I don't want to hurt is feelings. How do I let the guy who likes me know that I don't feel the same way without hurting his feelings?

Well since he has not told you anything about liking you or asked you to be with him than I don't think you have to explain anything? You may just embarrass him by talking to him only to reject him when he has not said anything about it or asked you to do anything.
