Wow, that's not very nice of you. You are going to have to just be straight with her and tell her that you like him too and got chatting with him and got together.
She's going to feel you've stabbed her in the back and trampled all over her feelings, which let's face it, you have.
She probably won't want to be your friend any more. I hope this guy is worth that.

 Try to make a good case for yourself. Explain that you like him just as much as she does. If she wasn't dating him then he's pretty much fair play in my book lol.
