I feel like i am a joke to him. My ex partner and i recently parted we have 2 kids and were together on and off for about 6 yrs. The thing is he doesnt seem to want me to move on, one minute he isnt speaking to me and the next he is asking if he can come round for sex. He doesnt seem to understand why i dont want this sort of relationship with him, he moved out 6 mts ago and things went from bad to worse. I have started seeing a new man but this isnt by anyway serious at all, we only meet up once or twice a month and spend the night together, he understands i have baggage and so does he. How can i make my ex understand that it is better for us to be friends rather than this on off couple who only see each at weekend to have sex. Everytime he offers himself to me i reject him, i dont want to keep hurting him, how do i get the message through to him?

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (31 December 2010):

You can't if he won't listen. And he's not listening. So, you'll just have to be a bit stronger in telling him.

"I'm sorry, we're finished. That's it"

And continue to say that. Don't worry about hurting him. He's hurting himself.
