How can things so good become so bad?

My (use to be good friend) he hasn't been talking to me so I haven't been talking to him but only if he says something to me which he does. I try to talk to him sometimes but i'm learning to ignore and not even try anymore. I miss the conversations we used to have at night texting each other! He used to say goodnight to me and we used to hang out. Its weird how things so good can become so bad. He always looks at me, why? If he doesn't like me anymore why would he still sometimes act like hes interested? I wish I could talk to him but when I try to fix our friendship he never answers so I've officially started to give up! I wish there was another way but I've tried everything. What do you think I should do?

Thanks

A female reader, anonymous, writes (2 June 2009):

Okay, so im just going to jump right in a say it, hes not worth it if he doesnt try to work it out to, it takes two people in order for a friendship or a relationship to work. I think you should stop giving him the benefit of the doubt for a little while and see what he does. This recently has happened to me in the school year and i just let it go and seeing how he didnt try to talk to me or make our friendship work then he wasnt even worth fighting, crying, or talking too anymore. It was very hard to let a good friend like him go but its better for you emotionally in the end.

i hope i helped.
