A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I like a guy in my year at college, I'm 18 he's 17 but it feels like we are both the same age, anyway age doesn't really matter. I really like him but I think he thinks of me as a little sister. Is there any way I can show him that I'm not and I am dateable??

I dont want to ask him out anywhere I'm too shy but I just want to discreetly let him know that I'm dateable and I want him to like me in a girlfriend way and not a sisterly way.

ahhh please help!!

xxx j

A female reader, anonymous, writes (1 May 2008):

I think what you need to do is either:

a) make your feelings clear for him if you think he'll react positively

b) stop being friends with him if it is hurting yourself, and perhaps try a different approach with him? suggest going out in the evening etc. and hopefully he'll get the message

remember that he may turn around and want to just remain friends, which i think is really hard to accept but it may be worth just keeping him as a friend or brother material.

don't try and get with another guy and score for jealousy, you may end up driving him away completely.

hope this helps, and good luck
