How can I make my boyfriend (in his 40's) feel really special?

A female United Kingdom age 51-59, anonymous writes:

Can I ask any guys who have been in a long term relationship that has not worked or have divorced ...in the very early stages of a new relationship (or even before it has begun) what sort of things can a woman do that make you feel really special, treasured and loved? I don't mean sexual things - I want to know what small things really get to a man's heart that might help you get over a nightmare time with your ex. Men in their late forties are particularly welcome to respond because this is the age of the guy that I adore...Thank you!!!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (14 December 2011):

You need to be affectionate with him, hold his hands, touch him rub him hug him. Tell him what you like about him, re assure him. Men like that. If he is not over his ex,if he is still in love with her it may be hard. but he wants to feel loved and wanted. Dont pressure him
