How can I make him understand without telling him outright?

Well, I really like my ex-boyfriend's best friend and after the split with my boyfriend, he always came over to see how I was and was like such a great friend to me. He's been round to mine about 6 times but never shows many signs of liking me. And even though when i texted him and he came round the other day, he still is either playing hard to get or he doesn't like me at all. I sit crying over how much I love him and how he doesn't realise at all that I do. How can I make him understand without telling him outright?
