Whats the easiest way to loose roughly 1 stone quickly? I'm not majorly overweight or anything however I;ve put abit more on that I'd like to over this past month or so and would like to get back into the comfort zone. I'm not particualrly someone who wants to do a crash diet and change my whole life. I would hate life without tea, or milk, or abit of chocolate but I don't believe I need to cut them out completely, just limit them.

I'm not eatting properly at the minute anyway as I literally get up do what I have to do, usually have a pasta meal for dinner (the sorts in the lunch section opf supermarkets) go to work, come home and go straight out again to see an ill relative in hospital. Come home and have tea and go to bed. Thats pretty much my lifestyle.

Could you give me a few tips on how to loose afew pounds? Maybe what sort of foods are easier to burn off or how much of the "nice"/unhealthier food could I have, i.e as snacks or part of a meal. I cannot afford the gym as i used to go regularly but until I find a new job I have had to cancel my membership. Any advice would be useful, thanks.

Fatherly Advice agony auntYou already have excellent advice. I've controlled my weight the right way and the wrong way. I just want to quickly address some points you brought up.

Tea, caffeine helps you lose weight by pushing up your metabolism. Just watch what you sweeten it with. Use skim or low fat milk instead of cream or creamer. Little things do make a difference.

Milk, Being Female and at your age you should not limit your milk intake. Skim or 1% milk will significantly lower the calories while still giving you the calcium benefits.

Chocolate, I know it's a matter of taste but you can get the same satisfaction from a smaller amount of dark chocolate. It is most likely that you crave chocolate because your body needs the chemicals that are in the chocolate. Simply put the more cocoa percentage the less you will need to eat to be satisfied. A cheap way to get dark chocolate is semi sweet baking chips.

Last the foods that will work for one person won't necessarily work for another. Pasta will fatten me,potatoes won't. I ran into a book yesterday recommending using a glucometer to determine what will work for you. A cheaper approach for you would be to look at what changes you made when you gained the weight.

Did you start substituting package pastas for real meals? Are you missing exercise because you are spending time with your relative in hospital?

You don't have to have a Gym to exercise. Walking or running use the large muscles in your legs and burn plenty of calories. If you take a bus to the hospital you could start by getting off one stop sooner (if it is safe for you to do so).

You can lose a stone in a couple of weeks; if you just cut out sugar, and eat small healthy meals every three hours out of your day.

I am a very health-conscious person and freak out; when I catch friends or relatives risking their health trying to outwit nature. There is no "quick" and "healthy" way to lose weight. Only effective ways to lose it, in a reasonable amount of time.

First, get a full physical from your doctor, and/or gynecologist. Make sure you're not swelling or puffing up due to water-weight, or suffering from any vitamin deficiencies. The wrong dieting moves can cause irregular periods or heavy flow; if you do something foolish.

Your general practice physician knows your metabolism and your general-health, and can recommend to you what to avoid in your diet. He or she, will also know if you are diabetic or have health issues with your cholesterol. They will be able to tell you what foods to avoid for your health's sake.

You will have to take it easy on the chocolate. I'm a chocoholic. I loooove chocolate. I eat a small piece of real chocolate, between 72 to 80% cocoa. Every other day.

It's bitter; but you can also get it with raisins, currents, berries, coconut, or almonds to offset the bitterness. You don't have to give up milk-chocolate; if you just treat yourself once a week. Even real chocolate is full of calories; but it has some good nutritional benefits that should replace it's sugary competitor. Milk chocolates.

Fresh veggies, lentils, nuts, and fruits. Fish and chicken, as a regular part of the diet, keeps the weight stable.

Avoid fatty, greasy, fried foods. Use substitutes for butter that taste like butter. Use it to saute, or on top of baked potatoes. Use low-salt chicken broth for mashed potatoes instead of milk. Add baked sweet potatoes to meals. They are quite filling.

Avoid trendy diet-pills, weird herbal supplements, and starving. They will make you put on more weight and can damage the kidneys, cause liver damage, heart palpitations,

nervousness, bladder problems, and anal leakage. Ask your doctor. I know what I'm talking about here.

Drink at least eight normal sized glasses of water throughout a whole day. Avoid sugary fruit juices, use a natural sugar substitute, cut down on butter, use 1% milk; and avoid junk-food or heavy snacks before bed.

You have to add exercise to your daily routine. Ride a bike, jog, or take long brisk walks. This speeds up the metabolism and burns calories.

Join a gym that offers Zumba or rigorous dancing technique for fun activity. It accentuates those curves and shrinks your waist. The results are visible amazingly soon after you start. My closest female friend is over forty and has four kids, and my sister has six kids. They have firm bodies. What I've described keeps them looking like athletic college-girls.

Hey, I'm giving away their secrets here.

Your doctor will suggest good foods to curb your cravings and fill you up. You should eat healthy snacks every three hours in a day because you otherwise snack on fatty foods to satisfy cravings. Pack your own lunch and snacks for work.

That avoids the munchies that make you eat junk.

At the end of your week, use Saturday or Sunday as your junk-food day. You must satisfy your naughty cravings, or no diet is successful. You have a right to enjoy the things that you love; but you also have to give up things harmful to your health as well. Empty calories are the culprit.

Setting a time-frame like a wedding or some social event has made people do stupid desperate things. They lose the weight, only to gain it all back, and then some. Then it becomes harder to lose, and they give up. They end up even bigger. So be careful.

Vanity is a very dangerous human emotion. It will make us risk our very lives to "look" good.

DO NOT SCREW AROUND WITH YOUR HEALTH!!!

Don't quit tea it's actually good if you don't add cream and lots of sugar. I would advice you herbal teas with a draining efect. Hydrate! Go up and down stairs...no elevator. Walk more...if you go to work in public transportation get out a little ahead of the place.

I'm on the same ship. Diet-wise...This is what I do: Breakfast - 2 slices of bread with a tiny bit of butter or jam (light) and milk and coffee (no sugar, you can get used to it). You can get cocoa with no added sugar even if you put a little bit of sugar yourself it will still be better than instantaneous one. OR Banana milkshake with 3 soup spoons of oat and a spoon poder cocoa (no sugar). It's divine!

Lunch -Huge bowl of soup. Little bit of meat (any kind since you keep the portion tiny),or a vegetarian pastry. Three soup spoons of carbs. You can add salad too.

Afternoon - 2 apples and one low fat yogurt.

Dinner - Soup. Fish, rice or other cooked cereal (rye, etc). Steamed vegetables and a sweat biscuit (if you're sugar desperate).

I do all these things myself. Trust me I feel better...and I still get the taste of chocolate in the non-sugar cocoa LOL
